Support Coordinator (Deputy Chief Operating Officer). Aligning support with business units
Proposed and managed the unification of support department information. This significantly improved support capabilities and productivity during global reorganizations, coordinated with the heads of HR, Legal, Finance, Facilities and other business units. Services to revenue producers were improved and risks reduced, while costs were controlled.
Merger of UK and European subsidiaries
Integrated 700 people, including dealers and investment bankers from 5 companies. Responsible for the regulatory, internal management and revenue producers’ requirements. The main challenges were creating a high performance culture while integrating different administrative and reporting systems without disrupting revenue generation.
Cost Control
I created a direct interest in cost control with all concerned. Procedures were simplified, reporting improved and major contracts renegotiated. Savings estimated at 3 % of total costs, or 3 million Euros per annum.
Projects Manager
- Moving: 700 people from 4 locations into the same building, accommodating multiple business units and management structures, whilst maximising the business synergies. The budget of £ 7 million was for 900 moves, infrastructure and investment. The project was completed for £2.4 million.
- Millenium: Contact point between the revenue producers and the IT based team evaluating, documenting and minimizing Millenium Bug risks.
- Euro: Product line manager in London for the introduction of the Euro.
- Rebranding: In 1998 Société Générale rebranded (as SG), I managed this project for SG Securities.

Head of Equities, Preparing the product line for centralisation on a pan-European basis, while servicing existing customers. This involved creating a unique legal structure and moving responsibilities from Frankfurt to London. SG was the only non-resident member of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Front Office Manager – Responsibility for Equity and Derivatives Middle Offices, Administration, Management Liason, Reporting, IT Support and Projects. The department had 40 people.
Manager, SG Effekten GmbH, DM 2 bn balance sheet - SG is a major issuer of warrants on the German market via SG Effekten. Costs were reduced by 30% through a new process negotiated with the Stock Exchange and BAWe (the supervisory authorities), which could be automated.

Currency Dealing and Cash Management ($ 5 bn under management) - The large portfolios were dynamically hedged against various benchmarks. This involved constantly changing exposure and establishing both long and short term currency positions. Development of Performance Measurement & Client Reporting - Client needs and benchmarks varied. Improve performance measurement and automated reporting raised client service levels.
